About – Valerio Balzano

I’m interested to explore human faces like source of meditation and growth. This leads me to create images that struggle between identity and abstraction. On one side the figuration, the identity that evryone can see, on the other side the dream, the abstraction, signs and interferences that create new possible spaces, directions and inconsistencies. This tipe of images can be seen like a heartbeat which contributes to the rhythm of its own evolution. I see and feel every work I start as an evolution of the previous and every work I conclude as a new starting point for another evolution. This is the rhythm of the experience through the experience.

Nature hosts the unpredictable, an ancient form of predation. Readiness is the only weapon to truly defend ourselves from what takes us by surprise. Being ready means reacting to the unpredictable, knowing how to fight the unpredictable by giving it a direction, reaching an aesthetic outcome from the reaction to the unexpected. In this way painting reveals itself from the encounter between one’s own vision and the acceptance of the case, finding a compromise between what is not wanted and what is thought. This is how the compositions of this cycle of works are born which aims to evoke naturalistic scenes in dialogue with an abstract narration made up of lines, shapes and colours.
